Integrated Neighborhoods

Each neighborhood should have provisions for care-homes, affordable housing, open space, daycare services, public schools, commerce and shopping and be connected by roads.

Zoning is an important tool that will encourage integration.

The new Official Community Plan (OCP 2030) has now been adopted. Council has worked to develop a relevant OCP for a sustainable Kelowna.

New development should be sensitively integrated to add value to existing neighborhoods. In attempts to densify we must be careful not to lose the sense of community many neighborhoods have established. It is a challenge to find the right balance.

Dialogue with the School District to look for opportunities to share school buildings with neighborhood associations.
